Seattle PD deems the word “suspect” to be offensive

The Seattle Police Force has stopped using the term “suspect” in use of force reports. If they use force to subdue a suspect, even if it is 100% justified, they will refer to the perp as a “community member” instead of a suspect.

KIRO7 aired a report pretended to be outraged over the use of the term “community member” instead of the word “suspect.” However, the same station refers to violent 18 and 19-year-old criminals as “teens.”

Last month Damarius Butts, a 19-year-old black male, robbed a convenient store and shot three Seattle police officer. The Seattle PD called him a “community member” and KIRO7 called him a “teen.”
