On June 6th, Kera Teel, 19, was shot and killed in Beaumont, TX. She was seven months pregnant and had a one-year-old baby. She had just pulled into the parking lot of her apartment complex. There was another woman in the car with her.
Three black males approached the car, demanded money, and then murdered Teel and her unborn baby.
Beaumont police have two suspects in custody. The investigation has been assisted by the US Marshal Service, the ATF, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Charles Police Department and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On June 13th, Atayanna Asia Nicole Douglas, was arrested in Lake Charles, LA. She is a resident of Beaumont and police say they received a tip that she was involved. Douglas implicated herself and others in a series of armed robberies. She named Jared Javon Bias, 22, as the man who shot Teel. Douglas knew details about the shooting that had not been released to the public.
Bias turned himself in today. He was given a one million dollar bond for previous outstanding warrants. He will be charged with capital murder and his total bond amount will be increased.
Douglas has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery. Beaumont PD says that more arrests related to the murder of Keel will be made shortly.
Beaumont PD says that the investigation has also led to other arrests and the recovery of several stolen guns.
