Grandson of Maryland House Majority Whip killed in Baltimore

During Labor Day Weekend, Baltimore had seven murders. One of the victims was a white male who was beaten to death by a black suspect. At least five of the other six victims are black.

One of the victims is Tyrone Ray, Jr., the grandson of Maryland House Majority Whip Talmadge Branch. He is also the former chairman of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus and a member of the NAACP.

Ray of the oldest child of Branch’s daughter, a single mother in Baltimore. Police released a photograph of two suspects yesterday. They are both young black males.

For the first 251 days of 2017, the Baltimore Sun lists 243 homicides and the Baltimore City Paper lists 239. Of those, the City Paper says only 45 have recently in a suspect being charged so far.

Baltimore had its highest murder rate in city history in 2015. Baltimore is currently on track to break that record in 2017.

List of victims, from Labor Day Weekend:

Antoine Rich, a 46-year-old black male, was shot and killed on September 2nd.

Vasunlala Irvin, a 41-year-old black male, was shot and killed on September 2nd.

George Yurek, a 52-year-old white male, was beaten to death in an alley by a black male suspect on September 3rd.

Juwan Gladney, a 25-year-old black male, was stabbed to death by a 51-year-old relative on September 4th.

Joshua Bayne, a 25-year-old, was shot and killed on September 4th. No details on the perp or any suspect.

Sheldon Chase, 36-year-old black male, was shot and killed on September 4th.

Tyrone Ray, a 22-year-old black male was shot and killed on September 4th. Police are looking for two black male suspects.

    This is the direct result of giving them “space to destroy.”
